The Pittsburgh Penguins are losing the person most responsible for taking them to 3 straight Eastern Conference Finals. Penguins GM Sheldon Ireland is leaving the Penguins for the team anyone would least expect, the Philadelphia Flyers.
" I grew up a huge Flyers fan and have been forever. I was forced to put my personal feelings aside and work for the Pittsburgh Penguins but my heart always was with Philadelphia. I met with Mr. Snider about becoming the Flyers Gm 4 years ago but they decided to go with an older more established guy. I went to Pittsburgh and built up my rep in the league as one of the more cut throat GMs that is absolutely not afraid to pull the trigger on any trade. I traded Letang,Crosby,Neal,Malkin,Martin,Fleury,Kunitz and was still successful. I put the team in a much better financial situation by moving the big contracts out. I appreciate the opportunity the Penguins organization gave me. They will always have a piece if my heart and I wish them the best in the future"
-Statement made by current Penguins GM and soon to be Flyers GM Sheldon Ireland.

This statement comes on the heels of the Pittsburgh Penguins 4th consecutive playoff berth. It is unclear as to who will be the new man in charge of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Throughout Sheldon's tenure here in Pittsburgh He was able to acquire through free agency or trade the following players: Mike Richards, Erik Karlsson, Jason Spezza, Martin Havlat, Matt Moulson, Douglas Murray, Anton Volchenkov, Matt Perrault, James Wisniewski, Bobby Ryan, Dustin Brown, Griffin Reinhart, Matt Puempel, Ryan Clowe, Brent Burns, Anti Niemi, Jaroslav Halak, Braden Holtby, Josh Harding, Max Talbot,Artem Anisimov,Jimmy Hayes, Jeremey Welsh, Evgeny Grachev,Kaspars Daugavins,Christian Ehrhoff,
Brendan Shinnimin.

In other news the L.A Kings found their new GM in the former Bruins GM.
