Suggestion - Completing Trades Empty Suggestion - Completing Trades

Post by Guest 11 Fri Apr 19, 2013 10:49 pm

Instead of having a trade commissioner, I think it's easier if we have the two GM's post in a thread to confirm trades. Pittsburgh can create a thread titled "Completed Trades or Confirmed Trades" and GM's can post their completed trades along with a simple "Confirmed" from the other GM. Pittsburgh can then edit the OP for each completed trade.

This guarantees all trades are noted down and cuts down on the amount of PMing required to complete a trade. This thread also gives the in-game commissioner a place to look prior to each advance.

I had this idea since the early stages of season 2 since Ding used to miss posting trades that went through in game (including CPU trades) and it's just confusing if certain trades get recorded while others slip through.

I really like the idea but how do we avoid uneven trades?

Personally I think it's fine the way it is. There isn't a huge amount of trades anymore anyway.

Considering my trade with Minnesota didn't get posted, I would say there's a flaw in the current system. Am I the only GM who wants a complete list of trades per season? It's much easier to track players that way and I think the trade announcements are an interesting aspect of GM Connected.

For uneven trades, the commissioners could either veto the trade or put it to a league wide vote. The two GM's could also PM the commissioners the reasoning behind the trade.

It didn't get posted because we were in the middle of website changes. I haven't posted any trade history yet if you noticed. I've been slightly busy.

I understand you're a busy guy, most people in this league are.

But doesn't that enforce my suggestion? If the trade commissioner is busy for a week, who deals with the trades and how do GM's ensure the in-game commissioner get the trade details? That's just another PM required to complete a trade. Posting everything in a single thread makes it easier for everyone.

I could PM just you and risk having the info not travel to Islanders GM or I could PM both to make sure I get my players after the advance hence two PM's.

If you're really "dealing with the rest", why aren't completed trades posted? Obviously, I don't care much for my trade details but I'd like to know who else has been dealt.

If you're busy, I don't get why you would want additional duties for an unnecessary position.

I always Pm Islanders Gm trades I receive man. I have never once forgot or just simply not messaged him. Ask him yourself if I have received a trade he knows all about it. It's simply a move that we do not need right now at this point. End of story bro.

It does show every single trade in the TRANSACTIONS tab in the league.

Yes, trades are in the transaction tab but so are injuries and free agent signings. Additionally, when larger trades occur, the game will say "Florida trades X, X and 2 others players". Where do GM's get the details then?

If you're properly doing your job as "trade commissioner", then post the completed trades. So far, you've missed three and the one trade you have up there is not even completed. Yes, that Reimer trade didn't go through in game.

Your position as "trade commissioner" is a hindrance to this league. Why this league needs multiple commissioners is beyond me. If you must have your ego stroked then so be it, I'll be dealing with Islanders GM regarding any trades.

End of story bro? Grow up.

Suggestion - Completing Trades Empty Re: Suggestion - Completing Trades

Post by BostonGM Sun Apr 21, 2013 11:13 am

Come on Guys, let's not do this!

Pitt is the Trade Commissioner because I asked him to be. The reason is because it's a shitload of work just running the league and dealing with the day-to-day operations. There are days that I've had 20 PMs to address and the league is not even full yet. Throw trades on top of that and it becomes a full time job...I've already have a full time job and fortunately it affords me the option of dealing with this stuff throughout the day or I doubt I could keep up with it as it is.

I know trades can be a sensitive situation and I'd rather not have to get in pissing matches for player movements. There are enough issues that I do have to address and I'm sure everyone can understand that I want it to be fun for me too.

Another reason for a Trade Commissioner is not as much the trade aspect but it's a backup in case I'm unable to fulfill my duties or if something happens to me the league will not be affected....Everyone that was here atthe time saw how close to "Out of Business" we were when Boston had his technical issues while he was commish at the end of last season.

The points are very well taken that we need to make trades transparent and easy to accomplish. And we will! I will work with Pitt on getting the past trades posted properly but please give us a day or two to accomplish that.

Please submit your trades via a PM to me and Pitt (same PM). I will make sure they are posted properly. If you have any future concerns please PM me directly.

I'm very impressed with everyone's passion/emotions for the league, it shows we all care...that's a really good thing! But let's keep it fun gentleman!
