Re: Few new ideas.
Thank you NJ. I REALLY appreciate the compliment
NHL14 may be the best option for them. The cool thing I mentioned to swic is the teams they want are teams that are open in this league. So they would be be excited to be able to start fresh with them.

Re: Few new ideas.
Some good discussions going on here!
Here is my thought on some of them:
A) DNF% I don't think it makes a lot of sense to quit and rejoin to "clean up" the DNF% vs CPU. Instead, I'd suggest that we make a locked thread and post everyone's DNF% and update it every advance or 2...I have no problem doing that....a new thread will be added today. Keep in mind, no matter where someone's DNF% is at today, it should go down, never up. I am actually one of the higher ones right now but that is mostly from the first season...I came in to this season at 46% (yes, I hate the CPU because it cheats ) and now it's down to 40% and it goes down a point about every 2 games or so.
B) Trades Although I can see the point of trying to make it as simple as possible, I also see value in having Commissioner interaction during the process. It's very important that the process works and yes, we need to document/list all trades for informational purposes. My suggestion would be that both parties PM me and the Trade Commissioner. (With this site, that can be done in the same PM, Cool!) It's my job to make sure the process works from there and I will follow up with Pitt to make sure we keep this on track.
C) In general, when it comes to "New Rules" we will put up a poll and get majority vote.....it's the most diplomatic way to handle it. We don't want to get into pissing matches over this...it takes the fun out of it and it hurts the League!
I do want to mention that we have to be able to manage all rules and some of them can be very difficult to manage. We need to keep it as simple as possible while maintaining the integrity of the game. Frankly, I'm not saying that we don't have room for improvement, but I feel that our rules cover most of the important stuff. If anyone feels like we need a new rule implemented, throw up a poll in the League Talk Thread.
D) San Jose GM - We would love to have those guys jump on board here if they are interested. It is my intention to keep this League going forever whether that means transferring NHL13 into NHL14 or starting a new League if necessary. If we do have to start a new league when NHL14 comes out, I'd vote for same teams that we have here but random rosters..... but that's certainly debatable.

Re: Few new ideas.
Refreshing DNF% makes sense because it cleans it up and is easier to recognize right away by anyone and should be managed EVERY advance period not every 2. A lot of you have many games played in this league so one DNF might not be as obvious to notice.
But these were all "suggestions" lol

Re: Few new ideas.
If we are going to keep track of the DNF more closely I'd like to reset it as well. When I joined the league mine was at 30 or so

Re: Few new ideas.
I know, that's my bad though. I must've quite a couple times off the start or something while I was messing with lines. Either way I still think it's a good idea to reset it.
Does freezing or looping affect you DNF? Are there exceptions we would add to this rule?

Re: Few new ideas.
Yes they affect it. But we couldn't have exceptions because there's no way to tell the difference between legit disconnects and quitting DNFs

Re: Few new ideas.
Wow league just got serious
Im not sure about the new rules tbh not that im opposed to them just that i think people should be allowed to do what they want as long as its not cheating.
I for one roll out 4 lines everygame...i have built a good team in Phoenix and i believe i have one of the deepest teams in the league player for player, especially in defence so why wouldnt i want to roll out all my lines.
Also because of this i have no need to put the same player on two or more lines....but at the same time i have no problem if people wish to do that. Each to their own you know... if they want to do that then it just shows what a bad GM or player they are as they have to rely on that player and have not built up a good enough team... Ill just need to make sure i shut that player down and hopefully injure them lol. Also im pretty sure that said player would get tired pretty quick and not be as effective.
As for the Goalie thing. Does everyone not rotate already? I certainly do. I have Bob and two young 4 star back up goalies and unless i play them they are not going to grow and i have built my team for now and the future in mind. Yeh my young 4 star back up is pretty terrible when he plays but i just got to deal with that and play better defence. For sure once im guaranteed a playoff spot he will be playing more often than not. Also its not 100% known but im pretty sure playing your goalie in every game will tire him out.
Im cool to go with whatever you guys want but rememeber we need to keep this league fun and as long as people aint cheating i dont think we need to change much tbh

Re: Few new ideas.
Well I read the 1st and 3rd page, and skipped page 2. Thankfully PhoenixGM said EXACTLY what I would have. He hit every point that I was going to. Personally I use auto line changes unless I'm in a situation where I want a certain line out, the AI line change does a good job for the most part and get the 4th line in plenty.
As for rolling the same player on multiple lines, I've seen players double shifted very often in reality, so I don't see why not.
I rotate my goalies often already, they're an 84 and 80 though. If someone has a MAF or Luongo I don't see why they cant use them all the time, they'll still become fatigued.
I'd rather us be worried about any cheeseballers. BTW I just thought of this, can we do anything if we're playing someone and the game glitches and jumps back like 10 min or whatever amount of time or it is what it is?

Re: Few new ideas.
Ok I read page 2, also apparently that last thing I said is called looping (source: FlyersGM lol). DNF% I'll let you guys handle, mine is 0% and always will be.
I'm newer but definitely plan on sticking around for NHL14. I wouldn't be opposed to restarting because my team is pretty random anyways. Also I didn't read Chicago's reply before and I think the only thing any of us REALLY need to do is read the reply from CHICAGOGM or PHOENIXGM. They hit the nail on the fucking head.
Also, the All - Star thing is a great idea. How about after we nominate our 3 team All stars, we can have an Overall vote from all GMs for an All-Pro team (Can't vote for your own All-Stars). I'm thinking sort of how the NBA does it with a first-team and second-team.

Re: Few new ideas.
Hey gents!
Regulating the line changes and implementing a rule that one MUST roll 4 lines will not only be hard to regulate, but seems silly in the sense that, at the higher level of competition, it is quite honestly a DISadvantage if one isn't rotating their lines. Players fatigue, and correctly utilizing a strong, physical 3rd and 4th line shift can build momentum, provide resting time for the top lines, not to mention be used as a "shut down" line to dampen the oppositions forwards PLUS be used to tire out defensive pairings in hopes of catching them trapped with a freshly changed top line of your own.
The goalies thing IS a good point to discuss. I have read multiple times that, unfortunately, in GM Connected, goalie fatigue DOES NOT play an active role. This simply doesn't mimic real life. I would imagine that NHL 14 will address this issue, but, in the meantime, I would suggest a happy middle ground.
The amount of 15 games was suggested, and, although relatively realistic as a ball-park figure, one can't dismiss Floridas point that some goalies indeed DO start large amounts of games. His example of Lu is a good one (and familiar, as I am a Vancouverite myself). I think 10 is a good number...being that its small enough not to cause a seismic shift in an already somewhat developed league...but IS high enough that one can't simply scoff it off as nothing.
Lastly, the DNF is simply unacceptable. I don't think any of us have REAL issues with internet connections. Of course, it can happen that a connection can be dropped, but I wouldn't say to the extent where it can counter-punch the downside of relaxed DNF protocol. I would rather see the use of integral discretion in regards to this topic. For example, if a game is tied 2-2 and in the second period, and someone loses a connection, the two GM's can work out a suitable way of dealing with it. DNF's vs. the CPU shouldn't even be a topic for discussion. It's a complete NO GO in my opinion and the rule should be strictly enforced.

Re: Few new ideas.
Could I take design of this website? I love designing stuff, and I might also work on a DDHFL banner aswell. Just wondering. Few things wrong with this forumotion forums I think. It's a bit confusing, and seems messy, and it also doesn't allow you to delete messages in inbox I don't think because I tried like 3 times.

Re: Few new ideas.
Thanks for the request Brandon, but I would be very reluctant to give up the website administration, especially to a new member that has not yet proven they are serious about the league.
Can you explain what you feel is wrong with forumotion forums....considering it is free, it's actually one of the better options out there.
I would be happy to look at a different banner if you'd like to send me one and I'm always open to suggestions on how we can improve the site so feel free to give me feedback. Thanks!
